One night, when I was obsessed with scary thoughts, David offered to take me out to dinner to get my mind off myself. I insisted on picking the restaurant and sitting as close to the door as possible. I didn’t eat because I didn’t want to get an upset stomach. David sat there enjoying his steak, while I obsessed. What was wrong with me? Would I ever be normal? That night I lay in my living room on the sofa and cried. Was there anyone out there who had what I had and didn’t lose their minds or die? Could I be helped?

Achievement mans different things to different people. Success might mean being in a healthy, positive relationship or raising happy, confident children. Fulfillment might mean doing a job that you love, planting a beautiful garden or staying healthy, fit and taking very good care of yourself. For many people challenged by anxiety, achievement simply means being independent and panic-free, being able to control their racing thoughts. No matter how you define success and achievement, you must be clear about what it means to you and what your goals are.

Back when I needed it the most, there wasn’t a lot of help or information about anxiety disorder. That’s when I took control. I would help myself and find my own answers. I spent months researching and studying. Little did I know I was beginning an awakening process that would change my life forever.

            Now I am convince that I suffered all those years for a reason. I have conquered my anxiety, panic attacks, and phobias.

Truth Be Told With Lucinda Bassett- Symptoms, Fears, and Concerns

There are a host of physical symptoms associated with anxiety disorder. Some of the more common symptoms would include:

  • Strong episodes of anxiousness and panicky feelings
  • Racing heart and chest discomfort
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Feelings of bewilderment and unreality
  • Inner nervousness
  • Scary, uncontrollable thoughts
  • Nausea, upset stomach, diarrhea
  • Hot and cold flashes
  • Numbness or strange aches and pains, muscle tension
  • Feelings of depression or hopelessness
  • Restless feelings, insomnia, or sleeping too much
  • Difficulty in breathing (hyperventilation)
  • Uncontrollable bouts of anger

People who suffer with anxiety disorder tend to worry and obsess about some or all of the following:

  • Having a heart attack
  • Going insane
  • Losing control
  • Embarrassment
  • Death
  • Illness
  • Hurting themselves or someone else
  • Fainting
  • Difficulty in breathing

The irony here is that these fears actually create the above symptoms and the above symptoms can create these fears.
