GOOD GRIEF… IT’S VALENTINES DAY AND MY HEART IS BROKEN…

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY EVERYONE!  AND I TRULY MEAN THAT TO ALL OF YOU.  THAT SAID, AND THAT “IS” WHAT ALL THE CARDS SAY… BROKEN HEART

BUT FOR THOSE OF US WHO MAY HAVE “BROKEN” HEARTS, IT MAY NOT BE SO HAPPY.  POSSIBLY YOU’VE LOST A RELATIONSHIP WITH A LOVER, OR YOU’VE EXPERIENCE THE DEATH OF A SPOUSE, OR YOU ARE STRUGGLING WITH A TROUBLED FAMILY MEMBER, OR YOU ARE STRUGGLING WITH WORRISOME HEALTH ISSUES, OR YOU ARE ALONE.

THEN YOU ARE STRUGGLING WITH A BROKEN, HURTFUL HEART.

I DON’T THINK THERE IS A CARD FOR THAT, SO FOR THOSE OF YOU, I WANTED TO MAKE SOME SUGGESTIONS IF THERE IS NO PERSON IN YOUR LIFE TO SHARE A ROMANTIC VALENTINE EXPERIENCE WITH ON THAT SPECIAL NIGHT.

  1. GET TOGETHER WITH OTHERS WHO ARE SINGLE AND NOT IN RELATIONSHIPS AND GO TO DINNER AND DRINKS…(THAT IS WHAT I AM DOING:)
  2. HAVE A QUIET DINNER AT HOME WITH A GOOD FRIEND WHO IS  ALSO ALONE AND USE THIS TIME TO LAUGH, WATCH A MOVIE.
  3.  BAKE COOKIES FOR A FRIEND WHO IS GONG THROUGH A TOUGH TIME AND ALONE AND GO VISIT.
  4. BUY YOURSELF SOME BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS AND A SPECIAL GIFT THAT IS PINK OR RED…FUN, SPECIAL.  SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU SMILE.
  5. IF YOU CAN DO THIS ALL BY YOURSELF, GOOD FOR YOU!  PREPARE AHEAD…BUY SOME GREAT FOOD, A GOOD BOTTLE OF WINE, SOME FLOWERS,, STAY HOME, TAKE A BATH, AND PUT ON SOME GOOD MUSIC AND TAKE TIME  REFLECTING ON HOW FAR YOU’VE COME AND HOW YOU WOULD LIKE THE YEAR TO UNFOLD.  THEN, USE THE “MAGIC” OF THIS NIGHT TO MAKE A “VISION BOARD” ABOUT THE PERSON YOU MIGHT WANT TO DRAW IN TO YOUR LIFE USING PICTURES AND QUOTES FROM MAGAZINES, ETC. ALL YOU NEED IS A CARDBOARD WHITE BOARD, SOME MAGAZINES, AND GLUE… WHAT A GREAT NIGHT TO DO THIS ON!  WHO KNOWS THE MAGIC OF THE NIGHT MIGHT MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE THIS YEAR ONCE YOU GET STRONG AND CLARIFY…

FOR THOSE OF YOU LUCKY ENOUGH TO SHARE YOUR LOVE WITH SOMEONE, BE IT A LOVER, A CHILD, A SISTER OR A MOTHER, GIVE CARDS, SHOW UP WITH A HUG AND DON’T TAKE ANY OF THEM FOR GRANTED… AND….HAPPY VALENTINE’S  DAY!

In honor of my valentine, David, my loving, greatly missed, deceased husband… and for all of you who have lost a loved on to a death, this poem is for you.

Death: Death Is Nothing At All

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.
